The Matrix is the second film in the Tron franchise and in its second installment it falls to our hero Keanu Reeves from 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure' to run McAfee Total Protection and make a bad computer virus go away.

Before the franchise spiraled off into madness with the following two Matrix films, plus a final installment called ‘Tron Legacy’ where Jeff Bridges pops back up - we are treated to a 3 hour film that should be called 'What geeks think is cool'.

The creative team behind this movie think 3/4 length leather coats with sunglasses is very cool...it isn't. 

The only people that wear 3/4 length leather coats are every member of the cast of The Matrix and my mate Tom from college who was notoriously uncool...sorry Tom. I'd hang out with him and seriously consider the impact his coat was having on my life, it was that bad. Again, sorry Tom.

Ok, computer baddies! So we all live in a simulation of life on earth as it was before a huge global war that left the planet controlled by robots who still use us as a source of energy to make something work, and then there are some humans left who live underground and have mid-90's raves like the end celebration in 'Return of the Jedi' on acid, and they try and challenge the robots and free humanity from battery slavery.

So Neo (Reeves)...haha I know people who named a child Neo....take a moment....after a Keanu Reeves character! brilliant. Call your second child R2-D2! No wait, call it The Millenium Falcon, thats much better.

I don't think there has ever been a trilogy of films that, at the time, had such an impact but have now just melted away into nothingness. Sure, cinematically the films left an indelible fingerprint especially on the sci-fi genre...but really who gives a sh*t about them anymore? 

The films have not aged well for a start, but then that's because of the whole 'what geeks think is cool' thing. Stupid little sunglasses that clip onto the bridge of your nose look stupid. Old Nokia phones with a weird flip down function look insane! Albino twins wearing white leather with matching white dreadlocks looks stupid. Real life twins played by Arnie Schwarz and Danny Devito wearing white suit jackets however, looks cool as sh*t…why didn’t you just do that?
